Harry Yeff (Reeps100) and Trung Bao, two of the world’s leading vocal experimentalists and creative technologists have launched the VOICE GEMS META-MUSEUM.
The virtual space seeks to display archived VOICE GEMS (sculptural sound bytes) of prominent figures and voices alongside experimental bytes that investigate vocal phenomena and technology that is generated from anonymous sources, AI-generated voices, dying languages and even the voices of critically endangered species.

In just six months’ time, the meta-museum has worked alongside a number of prominent artists, including Ai Weiwei, Felipe Pantone, Platon, Lily Cole and Johann König, to create unique digital sculptures that takes a person’s voice data and translates it into colors and forms, such as a one of a kind gemstone — essentially equating it as unique as a fingerprint. The gemstones are then available to purchase on platforms, such as Foundation and OpenSea.
Traversing the museum is both eery and fascinating — like entering a ’90s video game that channels in sounds from all echelons of culture. Try it out for yourself here.
